The Joe Elliott Show - Quotes

Show Intro

"Well I don't wanna keep going on about the weather but where I am at Elliott Towers, just south of Dublin in the mountains, it's been spectacular all week and long may it last. Welcome everybody to the Joe Elliott show on the very wonderful Planet Rock where we've been very busy this week preparing for more Down 'N' Outz work and preparing for the VIVA! Hysteria release which is going in cinemas September 19th and coming out on Blu-ray and DVD in October. I'm gonna start the show off this week with a nice bit of New York punk. This is the New York Dolls."

Mum/Adam And The Ants

"Last week at Elliott Towers the Queen was in residence. Yes, I was being visited by Mother. And I was afforded a great opportunity to show her round a little bit and we were invited to a very special performance at the Gaeity Theatre of The Riverdance and she's never seen it live and she was dying to go. So I did the honourable thing and I accompanied her to the show and it was very interesting to watch Riverdance for two hours because a lot of the music reminds me of some of the stuff I grew up listening to. The strange time signatures are very like Yes or Jethro Tull. The folkiness of the music reminded me of bands like All About Eve or Forever Autumn and the clickety, clikety, click of their heels reminded me of this particular pop band from the late 70s."

Earl Slick

"Well if you haven't guessed yes that is yours truly there. Moonlighting with one Earl Slick. The legendary Earl Slick of Ian Hunter Overnight Angels fame, David Bowie. John Lennon. He played on David Coverdale's solo album. And he did a solo record himself back in 2003 called Zig Zag. That track, which I actually wrote the lyrics for in an aeroplane, I had both trays down and I had the row to myself, The plane was half empty. Couple of drinks on one tray, lyric book and bit of paper on the other and by the time we landed it was all done and dusted. Great times. Song called Psycho Twang."

Show outro

"And that my friends is it for this week. Always a pleasure, you know that by now. I shall be back with you next week. Until then I'm gonna leave you with this beautiful piece of work that I played to Glenn Hughes in South Africa when I was down there with him and the Kings Of Chaos and he really, really dug this song and you'll see why if you're a Glenn Hughes fan because it's right in his pocket. From the album Making Magic this is Pat Travers and a song called What You Mean To Me. Until next week see ya!"
