Talk Radio 702 - Joe Elliott Interview Quotes

"Well, the music industry has changed so much since that album (Hysteria) came out as you said you bought it on vinyl I mean in this day and age vinyl is actually making a comeback which means that it actually disappeared. There are still a few kids out there that have never seen a vinyl record which is astonishing really when you think about it."

"We have - because the industry's changed so much we've kind of kicked into a part of our career where playing live has become much more important than making records. Which is really sad because everybody's got songs in their heads that they wanna write but the opportunity to do it tempered with the fact that in this day and age you've got three guys living in California, two of us living in Dublin, Ireland and getting together to write songs is difficult so we kind of tend to have to write on the road which is even more difficult. But we do manage it you know we did it last - when we put the Mirrorball album out we put three brand new songs on the end they arguably as far as I'm concerned are as good as anything we've ever done. So we know that we've still got the ability to write and we are writing actively as we go along you know but we're not taking time away from the road to sit down for a year to write a record because life's too short these days you know."

"I can see every other year going out on the road and doing specific things. It's more a celebration of the franchise these days than a career album, tour, album, tour which in fairness after 30 years of doing that does get a little boring. So it is very interesting to be able to do things like what we just did in Las Vegas where we did an 11 shows residency playing VIVA Hysteria! which is playing the entire record which we've never done. So those are the kind of things that are like becoming very interesting for us now. It's like Roger Waters revisiting The Wall that kind of thing. It's like I would love to see Roger Waters write a new record but he's probably more interested in doing The Wall because it's such an achievement to pull off. So it's doing different things I think that's the big pull at the moment."
