An article in Rolling Stone magazine suggests Boston-based band Extreme were dropped as support act for the Def Leppard Rock Of Ages Tour 2012.
According to the magazine singer Gary Cherone told them his band were 'dropped' from the tour. The article itself previews the tour with Poison and Lita Ford as one of the top summer packages of 2012 in North America.
The reformed band were never officially announced as being the support act or being in the running for it. The only other act mentioned before Lita Ford was Joan Jett who supported the band in 2000/2008.
Extreme did once play on the same bill as Def Leppard at the 1992 Freddie Mercury Tribute show.

"This line-up is missing Extreme though. Gary Cherone recently told us they were dropped from the tour. Then there were rumors that Joan Jett was going to be on the bill, but it turned out to be Ford, her former Runaways bandmate."
