Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen is using a new guitar on the current tour which was designed to benefit Pancreatic Cancer Research.
Phil's father Kenneth passed away from the disease in 2004 and he has designed the guitar in association with Learn Guitars. The guitar will be part of a contest at the end of the tour.
The guitar was delivered to Phil at the 25th June show in Denver, CO. Learn Guitars posted a blog entry about their experience at the show and it also includes a photo gallery showing Phil backstage and some shots from the main concert.
Learn Guitars - News Quote
"This guitar was a joint effort with Phil Collen, Jake Willoughby and myself. It is to honor family members we have all lost the battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Phil's Dad ( Kenneth Frank Collen), Jake's Mother (Connie Rae Alsip- Willoughby), My Aunt Gladys and cousin Ray Learn all fought for their lives against this hideous disease."
"We are hoping to bring awareness and funds to the research to battle Pancreatic Cancer. Jake and Phil will be making some formal announcements as to how to win this guitar at the end of the tour. Thank you all for the kind words and considerations."
