Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott recently recorded a Deep Purple song with the Kings Of Chaos band and the audio is now available along with an EPK video.

The song 'Never Before' is part of the "Re-Machined - A Tribute To Deep Purple's Machined Head" tribute album of cover versions celebrating the original album's 40th anniversary. As mentioned in July it is set for release with Classic Rock Magazine on 4th September (24th September in the USA). Besides Joe on vocals it features Steve Stevens, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and keyboardist Arian Schierbaum.

Ultimate Classic Rock have added the full song to their website along with five others from the album. Joe is also set to tour with the band (see previous news update).

Kings Of Chaos EPK - Joe Elliott Quotes

"My favourite song, funnily enough, on Machine head is actually Never Before. Go figure!. Of course when I was asked to do it I jumped at it because of that reason. I've always been a fan of the song. I didn't even realise it had been a single, that's how out of the loop I was back in the day. But it was one of those songs that when I heard the album I was totally drawn to and always sing in the shower. So when I got the nod from Matt for the Kings Of Chaos to do this I was determined to do it."

"I wanted it to be a bit more rough and ready then what people expect from me on a Leppard record. So it's kind of got a bit of road throat to it, which suits a 70s song anyway, a bit gruff. Which I do quite well, it's kind of, my voice but a little lower. In the same kind of intensity as I would've sung on the High 'n' Dry album or something like that which I think suits a Deep Purple song. I wanted it to be a little bit more organic than the kind of processed sound of a Def Leppard record."
