Camden, NJ - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Sean Patrick (103.7 the Shark, Atlantic City)

Def Leppard/Poison/Cheap Trick - Opening Night - Susquehanna Bank Center - Camden - Tuesday, June 23rd

What a night. I work for a classic rock station right outside of Atlantic City, 45 minutes from Camden. We went up and were broadcasting from the Susquehanna Bank Center from 3pm til midnight. What a fun night. Def Leppard fans might be the best fans in rock. I interviewed Rick Savage the day before and we ran back the interview throughout our broadcast. We talked about the re-releases of Pyromania and Adrenalize, the tour, setlists, and new music, which Sav said next year hopefully. Anyway, on with the show.

Watched Cheap Trick's soundcheck and got to shake Rick Neilson's hand, then he called security. He was joking, I think. Cheap Trick hit the stage around 7pm and ripped through a 45 minute set that included I Want You To Want Me, Dream Police, The Flame, and the closer Surrender. Cheap Trick always delivers and tonight was no exception.

Poison came out with their opener Look What the Cat Dragged In and blazed through a hit setlist that included Fallen Angel, I Won't Forget You, Every Rose, Talk Dirty to Me, and the closer Nothin' But a Good Time.

Then the headliners. Def Leppard. Tuesday night was my 27th Def Lep show and next Wednesday will be my 28th. The screen behind the stage is simply amazing. Love it. It adds to the show in a big way. Lep ripped through Rock Rock, which I was surprised they opened with and was very happy. Rocket, Lets Get Rocked, and then Too Late, which I requested during my Sav interview and he said it would be in the setlist. The rest of the show was amazing. Sugar for some reason sounded better then ever. Animal was great too.

Easily going to be the biggest summer tour of 2009. The place was packed. I'd say 18,000 to 21,000 give or take.
