Wantagh/Jones Beach, NY - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Chelle Drappel

A great night for another show at the beach and the Lepps did not disappoint! First up at 7pm sharp Styx. Not my thing but the few Styx fans seemed to enjoy them.

Foreigner was terrific though. Hit after hit the crowd really enjoyed it. Mick Jones still sounds awesome and their lead singer did a pretty good job filling the big shoes of Lou Gramm. Not to mention what a thrill it was to see Jason Bonham on drums especially when they played a Zep song!

Finally 9:30 pm as For Those About to Rock ended out went the lights and there they were once again. The guys were very energetic and at the top of their game. Joe sounding better than ever. No change in the set list and not much talk in between songs from our lovely Joe but he did introduce Vivian by saying, "This guy has been in the band longer than the Beatles were together and he still wasn't around when we wrote this one". The song he was talking about was Mirror, Mirror. I have to say one of the highlights for me after being a fan for 25 years to hear Mirror, Mirror live blew me away. ( Now if we can just get them to do Lady Strange one more time I could die happy)!.

Since it was still a "best of" show the crowd knew all the songs so everyone was dancing and singing at least from where I was lucky enough to be 2nd row in front of Phil. I finally had a great view of Rick Allen without a cymbal being in his face all night. Is this the happiest guy in the world or what? Constantly smiling and never missing a beat! No matter how many times I've seen him, I'm still in awe of his incredible talent.

As far as the catwalk, Joe, Sav, Phil and Viv played acoustic Two Steps Behind and the beginning of Heartbreak acoustic. The songs were wonderful but I just didn't like the catwalk. Can only hope they'll ditch it next tour.

By the way , saw the guys on a local morning tv show here this am and they played Armagedon It live. Joe's voice was just perfect especially after singing his heart out all night. Great job guys. Met a bunch of cool people last night and can't wait for the new record and tour in 08!
