Auburn, WA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Elaine/Lissa

Ridgefield - OMG, the shows were awesome! Started out, Lissa picked me up on Wednesday morning early and we took off. We traveled all the way to the Clark County Amphitheater and scoped out where the buses would be (very inaccessible behind a fence) then headed back to the venue.

So anyway, it was time to go to the gate, we decided to go to where the buses were and wait there (hoping). Journey came on...those guys are soooooooo good...I liked them in St Louis, but we were closer here and it was better viewing (even better next day hehe). Man, they played all the popular songs...not going to go too detail with them here as a little more next day's concert.

Then it was time for the Lepps! We were pleasantly surprised they played 20th Century Boy, hadn't expected that!!! The boys had LOTS of energy! During one song, can't remember the name of it, it looked like a fight breaking out between the roadies on stage! They were running around, seemed to be chasing each other, all around the guys! Joe kept singing, which was the first clue it was "staged" lol. They ran around him and he just stepped around them, was hilarious! OK, never seen anything like that before...looked like they put on a little "show" for us haha. Afterward, went back by the buses, was lucky enough to meet Phil and get my picture taken with him! That is one of the nicest men, always has time for his fans!!!

Auburn - JOURNEY was AWESOME up close...OK, so I'm not familiar with their names, but the bass player with the water squirter...man, he kept squirting everyone in the first and second rows LOL. Then he got me and Liss twice...I ducked but still got wet haha. Journey was a blast...I just love the songs, and I actually got to enjoy listening cuz I was saving my cam card for Def Leppard. As a matter of fact, I was free to really enjoy their show!! I still can't believe how much the drummer, Deen Castronovo, sounds like Steve Perry, the original lead vocalist! I had always assumed that was Steve singing "Don't Stop Believing"...very shocking to find out that he was the one singing some of the "slow" songs...it's awesome the way he can do that and play drums at the same time!!! I was very impressed! And the lead vocalist, Jeff Scott Soto, he's very, very energetic and he has a very good voice, plus he's very focused on his singing and his "act". I very much enjoyed watching these veterans perform!

Then DEF LEPPARD came on...OMG! Up Close And Personal!

I was snapping away...Got some real good photos...my digi cam was pretty good...not the highest quality, but good nonetheless. What really helped was being right at the front! BTW, at the Ridgefield venue, security there were A-Holes...major...they were taking cameras away they saw...even little digi cams...didn't matter to them. But security in Auburn?? All very nice! And I was snapping pix...at first trying to do it discreetly, but then I was taking one and a guard was coming up and I thought "uh oh"...but he ducked so I could get a better shot...LOL. They were all nice! The bad part is, I was so busy taking pictures, I didn't get to really enjoy the show as I did when Journey was on!!! Go figure haha. And they didn't put on any extra little "show" like in Ridgefield...that was a surprise. But still had loads of fun getting to see them so up close! We were on Phil's side, so he was our main "focus"...but they all took turns strolling over! I think Sav was more "mobile" than Viv, I hardly ever saw him come by, but maybe a couple times. And I did make sure to get the one shot of Joe and Sav hugging during Hysteria!!

Then, when it was over (sadly, sniff) Sav threw guitar pics out...I got one...woohoo...then saw he'd signed it!!! oh, and I need to find out where this video they took is gonna be available... I swear during PSSOM, that guy had his camera trained on Lissa and I as we sang to part of it...a half a minute anyway!!

So after, went to the buses...we were parked close to their anyway...and waited. Waited in vain lol...but hell, it was still pretty cool, got to meet other fans...this one chick, had to take a pic of her shirt...she painted Joe Elliott on the front...awesome job too...and she had this laminated pic of her and him when they met...looked like either Hysteria or Adrenal era...sooo cool! And this one other chick, she had the words to Hysteria tattooed on her leg...All of the words...and she got all the guys to sign it...and she's gonna have that tattooed!!!! I got a pic of her leg LOL.

Waited two freezing hours for those guys to come out...ended up the buses were pulling out...one bus saw them waving through the back window grrrr...It was so late, we thought about spending another night in a rest stop in the car, but ended up just driving all the way to my house. Well, that's it for now...hope we get to go to more...I'm still hoping for Vancouver, BC!!!! Or any more closer!!!"
