Sudbury, ON - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Vaula

Okay....Before the show I'm guilty for having 2 beers. That's all DL I swear! LOL!

Anyway, I opted not to see The Tea Party and so did hundreds of other people at the show. Almost everybody was outside until 8:30pm. When we got in, someone else took our seats. So security let us have the entire center isle behind the first set of chairs. As soon as "We Are The Champions" came on the loud speakers I got overly excited and told my b/f that "Def Leppard is coming!" No sooner, I said that, the lights went out and Def Leppard hit the stage.

Set list in no particular order....hey.. I can't be right on the money all the time: (see above)...Rocket (Visualize/Video Archive Sheffield concert version), Rock On (Joe looked soo cool up high...looking like a huge shadow man), Rock Of Ages ("We're gonna' set Sudbury to light!"), Run Riot (My bros. friend was at soundcheck working at the arena and called my brother over his cell phone to have a quick listen). A fun song at the show!

They had a big video screen behind them showing all sorts of events. My favourite was the part where the guys faces blended into the next. Very cool and creative. Beach balls were being thrown in the audience. Joe said "Two beach balls? That's not much of a beach party!" He got the crowd excited. He got us to sing parts of songs. He even passed the mic. over the front of the audience. I saw Sav reaching out for fans in front. Sav did that thing with his hair putting it up with both hands. Viv and Phil did their competitive soloing.

I jumped up and down and sang during the entire show. I noticed others followed suit. I kept yelling out "Joe!!" My b/f said that Joe pointed at me. During the encore I made my way to the barricade (touching distance to the stage) to get a closer look. Joe came up very close as did Viv, Phil and Rick Allen. Rick Savage came very close too. I felt lucky to be able to take the exact same spot that I had during the Slang show '96, even though it was for the last two songs of the evening. Talk about deja vu!

I must say, Sav did a marvellous job considering he hurt his back recently. Switching from mics. to mics. and playing/performing real well. After they said "Don't forget us...we won't forget you" "Goodnight!" I watched Sav walk off the stage just meters away from me, he looked soo tired. I wanted to give him a hug. Awe! He's a trooper. When we left the arena I couldn't believe how sweaty I was so I decided to sprawl myself out on the wet grass beside Def Leppard's buses. My boyfriend called me a nut bar. I brushed out my wet hair watched a group of people from the show peaking around the buses in hopes of meeting DL. I don't know if they did because after minutes of sitting in the wet grass we went home. There were four big buses I don't know why? Security for Def Leppard this third time around were a lot nicer than in previous years. I was surprised at how comfortable they made me feel. It was great!

Fantastic job, Def Leppard! Thank you soo very much! I loved all 3 shows! You all still look and sound awesome! I bought the Sudbury Star today and as always there's a big photo of Joe, for which I cut out and will put away with the rest of my DL clippings. The "Star" said the show was "sold out." They didn't play anything from "Slang" which was kind of different considering the last two times they were here, they played it. But, that's ok! I love you, Def Leppard!.

"They are a spectacular band, they really know how to please a crowd..with being in the business for so long you can tell they are comfortable with everything, the screaming fans, which made others more at ease as well....stage performance was phenomenal, the lights, the videos in the back, the live camera of the performance was really an amazing site! You can tell why they have been in it for so long and I was impressed!"

The show was amazing! The arena was sold out and the loudest concert I have been to here in Sudbury. Def Leppard were awesome playing 2 new songs from their upcoming album "Yeah". Joe was really into a blonde girl up in the seats on the left side and kept pointing and smiling at her. Cant wait for them to come back...ROCK ON!!!.
