Rochester, NY - Media Reviews

By Robyn Brown

When I heard that Def Leppard AND Bryan Adams were coming to Rochester, I knew I had to go! I called our founder and begged her to get me tickets. I HAD to be there. These guys are the epitome of Rock ‘N’ Roll. Two totally different styles that meld into a fun and rockin’ time!

Def Leppard took the stage first, and by took the stage I mean the OWNED it. If you like Rock ‘N’ Roll, and you have to, to go to this concert, then you would have enjoyed this! They played all the favs…”Pour Some Sugar On Me”, “Bringin’ on the Heartbreak”, “Foolin”, “Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad”…the list goes on and on…When Def Leppard performs they take no prisoners. With their driving beat, and no holds barred performance, it was an opportunity to see and hear one of the best Rock ‘N’ Roll bands play live. Promoting their album “Rock of Ages, The Definitive Collection”, I think they sang every song on the album! A not to be missed chance, you MUST see them...they are truly a spectacular band, one of the originals.

Bryan Adams was next. As a HUGE fan, as Bryan was my very first concert ever, I was looking forward to see how his performance measured up to my memory (not to date myself or Bryan but it was 20 years ago!). I was not disappointed. He was still as good looking as I remembered (hey, I AM a girl!) and still had a great voice. Following Def Leppard has to be tough, and he pulled it off well. With a totally different Rock ‘N’ Roll style…he really showed that after all of these years he is still a phenomenal musician!

The person that I took with me (and we won’t mention names) was not a fan of Def Leppard or Bryan Adams, so I was looking forward to seeing his response. I can tell you this; he left the concert being a fan of both! He bought several CD’s and has been listening to them since. That being said go out and see this team of musicians perform. You will leave feeling like you finally went to a concert where it was money well spent. This group of guys leave you feeling upbeat and ready to get down. Rock ‘N’ Roll how it should be!

On a sad note, my camera broke when I got there (I dropped it), so I could not get any pics. I apologize to everyone for that…I would have had some fantastic shots!.

Def Leppard stokes old fires for Frontier 5,000 By Jeff Spevak

Ten words no one wanted to hear Sunday at Frontier Field: "And now we're gonna play something from the new album...."

Only in rare cases has pop-music success in the '80s translated into this century. Def Leppard and Bryan Adams are no exceptions. And showing up on VH1's Behind the Music doesn't count.

But it's not difficult to recall that both of these acts were chart monsters at one time. The comfort food of rock: Part craft, part Kraft macaroni and cheese.

For the record, no one looked fat or like they were experiencing backstage-party flashbacks. Onstage, we're talking. Def Leppard guitarists Vivian Campbell and Phil Collen even removed their shirts and didn't gross anyone out.
