Rochester, NY - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Janeen

I have been a Def Leppard fan for 24 years, and I have been to so many Lepp concerts during that timespan, that I have lost count and each and every one was awesome! Last night was no exception - they ROCKED!!! Not a beat was missed, not a lyric forgotten, they were all smiling and having a great time. They haven't lost an ounce of their energy and they all looked fantastic!

I won a soundcheck auction through Raven Drum, that was not only to include soundcheck, but to meet Rick Allen and have early entry to the stadium. Soundcheck didn't happen, but only because at this point of the tour they really didn't need it - so we were told, and after seeing them perform, that was dead on - they didn't need any practice for any reason. Though it would have been nice to see them do soundcheck. We did get to meet Rick Allen, who is THE sweetest, most down to earth soul that you would ever want to meet. He is genuine, caring, made us all feel at ease, and seems so very happy with everything. We were lucky enough to be able to go on stage and take a look at his drum kit and he explained a bit of what goes on back there, where he keeps the beat for the best band ever! He very graciously took pics with everyone and autographed everything that we brought. What an amazing man!

So after we finished meeting Rick, we were allowed to stay in the stadium and take our pick of where we wanted to see the show - needless to say, all 10 of us were front row. Front row just makes the whole Def Leppard experience that much better - my pictures are awesome and as soon as I can figure out how to post them, I would love to share them all. Of course I took 190 and probably can't get them all on here :-)

To Rick, just on the outside chance you'll see this, I had an amazing time, both in meeting with you and the show itself - 90 minutes just isn't long enough though! Oh, and my not wanting a picture WITH you, had NOTHING at all to do with YOU, I am just extremely camera shy :-) Thank you again for an amazing experience, and I wish you the best of luck on the rest of the tour - oh and enjoy your time off, you've earned it!

So that in a nutshell is my review. It was awesome - all 90 minutes of the show and every second we spent with Rick. I'll try to get my pics up soon. Hope you enjoy them!.

The show was AWESOME. I took my 20 and 14 year old daughters..I had seen them in Binghamton in 92. Yesterdays concert we were right up front in front of a line of security guys so I really couldn't take digital pics. I did manage to get some video and pics on my cell phone though.

Rick Allen came down after they played before the encore and looked/smiled widely/then waved at my 14 year old. She has been in AWE ever since. My 20 year old loves Joe he was in front of us singing, dancing and getting us to sing lyrics. We sang along with ALL the songs! I can't tell you enough they have only gotten better as they get older.

Rick Savage is my favorite--ever since I knew Def Leppard existed. He is my age. When I saw them in 92 a friend of mine went with me. We were again in the front row but with no security so we went crazy so did the guys--It was back when they had the mad hair (the Bon Jovi hair lol) Yesterday, Rick waved to me, grinned/winked at me, then stood 2 feet from me shaking his butt and jamming with Viv. They played Action first, then went on to playing Lets get rocked, Promises, Rocket, Women, No Matter What, Hysteria, Armageddon it, Animal, Rock of Ages, and more then for the encore did Bringin' on a Heartbreak and Pour Some Sugar On Me.

They played for over an hour then Bryan Adams closed playing for close to 90 minutes. It was well worth the money I spent on soveneirs and tickets!! I wish I could travel and see more of them but my finances at the moment keep me from doing that unfortunately.

Rochester was HOT, but Def Leppard were HOTTER!! We were front row Phil’s side. The bass was way too loud and Phil had some adjusting of his guitar to do, but it was great anyway. They guys looked like they were having a lot of fun. They played their usual set with “Rock On” the only extra. The crowd was great - lots of singing, screaming and hand pumping. Seeing them was well worth dragging the 3 kids across the country.

1) The highlight for me was, by far, "Rock On." So cool to hear something new and different, instead of "Photograph" for the billionth time. And it sounded great!

2) A close second would be "No Matter What." Again, because of the new/different factor.

3) A close third highlight -- opening with "Action."

4) Sadly, I saw more than a few babies and kids up near the stage, without ear plugs.

5) Was pleased that there seemed to be just as many Bryan Adams die-hards as Lep die-hards. I would have felt bad for him if everyone left after Lep.

6) There seemed to be a lot more newer shirts (i.e. "Euphoria" and "X") than older ones in the crowd.

7) The tour program is really pretty lousy. Lots of repetition in the on-stage photos.

8) The review by the local paper's "music critic." It's not glowing, but it's not terrible either. It's just in his typical pseudo-hip, "cooler-than-thou" style that always gets under my skin.
