Louisville, KY - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By leppardyze

Ok...started out complaining...the venue was small, 1 restroom and was so smoke filled that you could barely see the stage...BUT those are my ONLY complaints! Security kept things in order but allowed you to go up and take pictures. Now for the actual review:

Ricky Warwick has a great voice but would be a much better performance if he had a band to back him up. He was much better when Viv joined him on his last 2 songs. Cheap Trick came to the stage and Robin Zander scared me with the white hat...I worried that he might have lost his flowing blonde hair! But he finally took off the hat and I was relieved. They performed great but there were too many songs that were unknown to most of the crowd. No "The Flame" which sucked in my opinion!

NOW the show actually began when the Lep boys took the stage. NO way around it, I am REALLY partial to them. I have been a fan since 1980 so there is NO band that comes close to be more superior!! It was SO nice to hear them do songs I had never heard them perform before. That was great. They didn't do Gods of War, which I was looking forward to. :( BUT no complaints on what they did. The lighting needs some attention. The lights drowned out the video screen on many occasions. The morph scene when they did during "Rock On" was cool and kinda weird, all at the same time. In all honesty though, I didn't watch the screen much as my eyes were glued to my men Joe and Phil. Joe's voice was through the roof...EXCELLENT! Phil and Viv were spectacular.

Sav was good and the THUNDER GOD rocked the house. It is just amazing the sounds he can put out with only 1 arm. He is far better than almost ALL drummers...no question! I mean no offence by that. He deserves the highest praise for his performances. TOO many people make fun of him for having 1 arm or Def Leppard being the band with the 1 armed drummer. Damn straight!! Hey...he outplays almost every other 2 armed drummer around so those sceptics can jump off a bridge. :) The crowd was 75% into it...others just sat there like logs...they need get the stick out of their butts and get into it. If you are going to a rock concert, get up and shake what your mama gave ya. :) All together, the best show I have seen in a LONG time. The hubby ranted and raved about the show and he is not easy to impress.

What a great show. No complaints with the boys but damn the Louisville Gardens management. 1 bathroom for each doesn't cut it. But that's the venue for you. And Clear Channel promoting the show, don't get me started on them.

As far as the smoke in the arena goes (being that I can't stand cigar or cigarette smoke), that was fog from the fog machines. I have a sensitive nose when it comes to that. I thought there wasn't supposed to be any smoking in there. We have some kind of smoking law here that I'm not to clear on and I thought it was in effect last night. I saw people smoking though but much less than I've seen in the past.

When Joe mentioned they were there in that very same building a little over 22 years ago, it brought back memories of that night. It was LOUD and the best show I ever saw. I wished they would have played Gods of War, Die Hard, Mirror, Mirror, Another Hit & Run, or Tear It Down. Great freakin' show and I can't believe the place was almost sold out. This town is known for selling out these crappy country concerts but I was very happy to see after all these years this town still loves Def Leppard. And don't worry guys, this town will not forget you.
