Lancaster, PA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Nannette

All I can say is it was awesome. I was in the front row in front of Viv and Sav. I got a hug from Phil. Made it worth standing on my feet for over 9 hours. You could tell they were physically spent. Joe even mentioned how they just arrived in Lancaster about an hour before they went on. Sav looked tired, but really rocked. They didn't play all the songs that I noticed they played at some venues. They didn't have the TV screen behind them, or play GOW, or BGAG. They were on stage for a little over an hour. I went to the buses right after they went off the stage, had no problem getting to the guys. The venue had a yellow police line tied from a tree to a telephone pole, which was knocked down immediately.

Phil was the first I spotted and a bunch of us yelled to him, he motioned that he was going to eat first and then come out. Which he did, he was great. Signed autographs for everyone that was there. He had Michele and baby Samantha there also.

Sav came out next, he was really tired, but signed autographs for everyone there. Rick was the last to come out. He was happy to see everyone and took his time signing what everyone had to offer. My hubby shook his hand and told him how great he was, and Rick thanked him. (My hubby's also a drummer so it was exciting for him). We all tried to get Joe (who was taunting us by walking back and forth between the buses with Mal) never did come over. Mal came over and signed my ticket for me. All in all, It was a fantastic show. Can't wait till the next one. It was over way too fast.

I did get some great pix and will post them or send them to someone to post them for me since my computer at home took a stroke and just beeps at me when I turn it on.

The Lancaster show was by far the best I had been to this tour. Almost 10,000 people in attendance. The crowd was very patient as the guys were almost 2 hours late due to Live 8. This show was the first for my two boys, ages 9 & 12. We had gotten to the venue around 2:00pm and decided to wait in a line that had formed on the side of the building. We were with a GREAT bunch of people. Hello to Dawn and her husband, to the "Where's the Mike's Man" lady and her hubby, to the Dad in the Adrenalized tank top with his two daughters, the lady with the red hair who took my photo, the blond girl with the DEF LPPD license plate, and the girls behind us on the floor. All of you were so nice and fun to hang with. Hope you enjoyed the show!!

They opened the gates and we ALL got front row. I was right in front of Joe’s microphone. Right where I wanted to be! After we had been standing there for a while, one of the roadies came down, jumped off the stage and came over to me and made a comment. I'll just say, it was a very sweet comment. Great way to start the night! The hubby just smiled. I have to tell you, my husband is the best. He let me shine that night in Lancaster. Love you Hon!!

As I heard 'We Will Rock You', I knew it was time. I was so excited that my boys were finally going to see the band I loved so much. To have them there, to share it with me, was amazing !! They truly enjoyed themselves. Aidan handed the security guard two picks and said “Give these to the two boys in the front row” Thanks Aidan! The guys hit the stage, full of energy. After just leaving Live 8, I think they were amazed that this crowd of over 11,000 people were patiently waiting for them. It was also their first show after having to cancel Camden. I held up my sign as soon as Joe hit the stage, it's the same sign I've had since last tour. He saw it immediately, pointed at me and said "There you are again". To be acknowledged by that man for even a second is truly amazing!!

Some of the highlights of the evening. Joe picking up that Joker hat and putting it on Phil's head. Vivian and Phil working the crowd with their guitars. Sav jumping up and down for photos, Rick sitting behind his drums, smiling, never missing a beat. As for Joe, well I can't say a whole lot about that man because I have to keep it clean and that's really hard for me. Let's just say, he and I had a blast throughout the whole show. He would come over and look right in my camera. When he leaned down and said "Suppose a Rocks 'Outta the Question?" Can you say OMFG!!! I snapped my camera, Priceless !! My husband never seems to amaze me, all I heard him say was "This is her moment" Love you Babe!

Rock On is by far, is the best and most intense song of the show. I'm looking forward to the September 20th release of "Yeah!". The crowd favorites seemed to be 'Photograph' "BOTHB' and 'Hysteria'. The last one being my favorite. I still get tears in my eyes when they play that one. 'Rocket' is still a great song to hear live as well as 'Let's get Rocked'. My younger son held up a sign "Can I have your Pick" throughout the show. After Phil played PSSOM he threw my son his silver metal pick. Thanks Phil !

I managed to get a set list from Aidan, He leaned over, handed it to me and said "I'll even give you the one with Joe's boot print all over it" Thanks Aidan !! We didn't stay for Bryan Adams. We were all exhausted and hungry. As we made our way to the top of the stairs, I snapped a photo of all the fans below. I was amazed that we had just came up from down on that floor. We stopped at TGI Friday's at a nearby mall and had dinner before we headed home. My boys said "Mom, we want to go see Def Leppard again". Great end to a great night!!.

Fan Review - By Steve (worked at the show)

All I can say about the set was wow. As far as lighting goes, that has been one of the most complicated light shows i have worked yet. Nothing compared to Live 8, none the less spectaular use of 20+ Mac 2000's, scrollers, "mole" lights, and the many other S4's that were used in creating a light show not much comparible to any other I have worked with yet. The sound consisted of no less than 40 15" subwoofer's blasting the hell out of that tiny stadium. Combined with 4 rows of mid range and tweeters, that show packed an awful loud blow.

Working with the local stand hand union, this was my first opportunity to work with the "big-leagues" (no pun intended). It was a shock to me to find out not only was I involved in the production crew, but I had been able to get in front of the "highly secured" barrier system. This moved me within about 5 feet from where the musicians entered/exited the stage. What I was able to do, was the dream of all the screaming, heart throbbing women inside the stadium. With access with my crew, I was able to make my way back to the dressing tents with ease, minus some trouble given by the yellow shirted "rent-a-cops". There I was able to converse with Vivian Campbell, and Phil Collen and had received all their signatures on a Rock of Ages shirt I had purchased earlier. I also met and conversed with Rory Collen, son to Phil Collen, with ex-wife Jacqueline Collen. This was my first summer out of high school, and was already heading on the road to the big shots.

I will first start off by saying that this was the best Def Leppard concert I have ever been to. Myself, along with three girlfriends started the day off by ariving at the stadium early to be the first in line to enter the gates. After standing in line for about 4 hours in the hot sun, not knowing then that the wait would be very well worth it. Once inside the gate we charged our way to the front of the stage on Phil's side.

We waited for a while until Randy Coleman got on stage. Then finally Def Leppard came out, they looked and sounded awesome. My friends and I were screaming and holding up signs, which paid off, because we seemed to get a lot of attention from them. Phil would get on his knees and play his guitar right in front of us, which was so cool. He even threw his pick to my sister, which we thought was so ironic because during their X tour I also caught Phil's guitar pick.

After a while we noticed one of the video guys and we asked him if we could get passes. So much to our surprise they didn't only get us passes, but they left us watch half of the concert from Sav and Vivan's side of the stage. We were in heaven. We were treated so great, everyone was so nice. The whole concert was wonderful. After the show we got to meet Joe, Sav, and Phil. They took pictures with us and signed autographs. They were so sweet for doing that since they were probably very tired from playing Live 8 early that day. Even Malvin got pictures with us and signed autographs. We saw Rick Allen, but he was in a bit of a hurry so we didn't get his picture and Vivian wasn't anywhere to be found.

The rest of the night was topped off by getting to meet some pretty incredible people who made this night possible. Thank you so much! This is definitely a concert I will never forget!
