Fort Worth, TX - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Cathy

I've fallen in love with Def Leppard all over again!! The show at La Grave Field in Fort Worth, Texas was amazing!!

Not only are the boys looking healthy and happy but they’re sounding absolutely superb!! The only other DL concert I have to compare it with was on the X tour at Grand Prairie, Texas. I thought that concert was terrific. My husband thought the sound was off and we’re sitting right beside the sound booth where it should have been the best, in a venue designed for concerts only. Hmm.

My twelve year old daughter was my date for the evening. We arrived at La Grave Field around 3:30. We walk around for a few minutes then head for the line. Luckily I have an umbrella in the car and we have a beach towel to sit on…..….and water bottles! It was extremely hot with two hours to sit in the sun before show time. Once the line started moving we were in quickly. Security made me ditch my umbrella and said keep on moving. They didn’t even look at my daughter nor did they search our bags. I just handed them our one ticket and we walked on in.

We headed straight for the field, I was a little nervous about taking my daughter on the field but that’s where she wanted to be. There was already a crowd around the stage. The sound booth was in the middle of the field, that’s where we headed. A few people were already there, we sat in front of them. With another hour to go before the concert was to start I was glad to be in the only shade on the field, courtesy of the sound booth.

I won't go into the set list but I do want to mention a couple of songs. I thought the boys did a great job on No Matter What, it was well received. The next being Rocket. OMG, this song was just phenomenal!! This was my first time to see it live. I am sooo in love with Phil’s talent on the guitar. I know, I know……how can I say that when Viv, Sav, Rick, and Joe are just as phenomenal. These guys make up the perfect band!!! Anyway the song Rocket was incredible! And the sound was Fantastic!......did I read somewhere that they had their favorite sound guy back for this tour? Good!

Joe’s closing remarks went something like…..don’t forget us Fort Worth and we won’t forget you. Like that’s ever going to happen. Def Leppard, I want to see you again, and again, and again.

I guess one reason I'm so in love with DL is because they are my generation. And they are the first and maybe only band I will ever love from my generation. Thank you! p.s. My daughter thinks Phil's hot!...but old! lol.

This was my 4th time to see Def Leppard and I was once again very excited. They have always put on an excellent show. This time I was with 2 people who were just as excited. We got to the field at about 3:00 and were allowed to enter at 5:00, which was 30 minutes before the rest of the crowd. Little did we know, but we had VIP tickets. We got 2 of the 3 tickets on eBay and had no idea they were special ones. My girlfriend was able to get on the very front and I was right behind her with my boyfriend in his wheelchair. We stood there in the heat for a full hour before Randy Coleman came on. He played several songs with his band mate and I thought all of them were excellent.

Def Leppard came out right after that and played the same set as listed for the Mesa show. We were on the right side of the stage, so we got to see Phil most of the time. The guys were incredible once again. This time I was so close I could see their sweat! I was thrilled. Phil was so into the whole concert thing. He was feisty, flirty, and energetic! His mood and his guitar playing were all top notch. Sav came to our side of the stage about 3 times and was looking healthier than ever before. He has lost a bit of weight and even though he was way hot before, he looks even hotter now!! He, like Phil, had a sparkle in his eye. Viv is not my favorite, but he was smiling ear to ear and played spectacularly. I only saw him on our side a few times. Check out the picture I got.

Joe's voice was better than I've heard it in a long time. The rest of him seems to be showing signs of his age. He is my favorite DL, but he's slowed down, gained weight, and lost some sparkle. He didn't appear to be as in to the concert as he usually is. I guess they are just as human as this 39 year old - we're getting old. Jeez, I liked the fantasy better! Still, his dimples and voice are to die for and listening to him sing Love Bites was the highlight for me. Rick Allen was great, as usual, but I didn't get a chance for many pictures of him. He has a warmth about him that I would love to experience by meeting him. He had his trademark incense burning right there by his drum set.

I was able to get many incredible pictures and my friend and I took turns standing on the wheelchair to get a better view (and get their attention). Other than it being shorter than their other concerts, it was awesome. My boyfriend and I are planning to go to one of their solo shows in Canada next month so we can see an entire set played. Rock On Def Leppard!!!!.

HOT! Not just the weather that day, but the band itself! Joe and the boys sweated it out with the rest of us, belting out every song as though this was their only show. They had lots of energy, which infected the crowd. After 25 years, they sounded as good as ever. I am always so amazed at how well they sound live. Joe was dead on with the vocals; Phil and Viv (had their shirts off pretty early in the show) were awesome; Savage as always, fantastic; and Rick, he never ceases to amaze me! They all looked like they have been taking good care of themselves, let's just say OMG! I can't wait 'till they come this way again!.
