El Paso, TX - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Cathy

We arrived at the venue about 6pm and the sun was giving us a pretty good beating. I myself had not purchased a ticket yet so as I walked up to the ticket booth I was greeted by about 3 ticket scalpers wanting to sell me tickets at a very low price. Well for any other venue I probably would have taken them up on their offer, but come on.....These are my boys and that’s like cheatin' the guys, so being the Lep fan that I am...I passed it up and paid the same as everyone else did. We waited in line which wasn't short by any means, and got into the venue. I had my 13 and 9 year old daughters with me as we made our way down to the stage. We got close enough to be behind the people at the rail which was close enough to get sweat on us from the guys.

The show started a little after 6:30 with Randy Coleman which was pretty cool for 2 guys up there with just acoustic guitars. They got the crowd going with a few songs which weren't half bad. After they left the stage there was a brief intermission as the crew got the stage ready for the boys. As one of the crew got Rick's drum kit ready, lighting the ritual incense for him it gave me a chance to look around me at my fellow concert goers, so I got to say something about the crowd. I've been to many different concerts and I've got to tell you that Lep fans are by far the best group of people anyone could ever find themselves standing next to at a show. Everyone around me talked to my kids and said.....look when the show starts people will probably start pushing so if you find yourself getting smashed, you just hold on to one of us. That is so cool.

Anyway in the beginning of the show, the sun hadn't quite gone down yet and the guys walked out....greeted the crowd and Started the show with Action. There was no big entrance which was cool I thought......because it felt like they were there to play for a few people...... very cool. My 9 year old couldn't see so I put her on my shoulders (trust me 90 lbs gets heavy in a hurry) and we got thru the first couple of songs with her on my shoulders with everyone around us making sure I was OK....hehe Anyway.......the guys sounded really good on stage which proved to all of us that they Definitely Still had it!! Joe was having a few problems hitting the high notes, I'm sure from straining his voice from the previous shows, but still sounded great!!

After the guys ended the first couple of songs Joe says "It's fucking hot" or something to that effect and all I could think about was "Joe, this couldn't have been as hot as Phoenix last night!!" lol anyway they played on and as the sun went down ....finally it brought a sigh of relief from the crowd and definitely the guys who were staring right into the sun a few minutes before which had to be completely horrible! The show was going great and the crowd was awesome with the exception of a couple of idiots who decided they were gonna rush the stage and push my kids smashing them against the people in front of them. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH IT WAS ON THEN!! I didn't have to do anything.......everyone else around me grabbed these guys and pushed them back and said a few choice words I will not mention here. hehe.

Anyway the show pushed on with everyone singing along and the guys doing their usual magic up on stage getting everyone involved and loving it. It was very clear to everyone that the guys were having fun up there doing their thing, and Rick (my hero) with a smile the whole time back behind the drum set. Sav up there doing his usual hand on forehead looking out into the crowd......getting them pumped!!! Phil and viv makin them guitars scream!!! wow And Joe, well he's just awesome!!

The set ended with 2 encores, Bringin on the heartbreak and Sugar with the crowd going wild and lovin it. Kids everywhere on the field just singin and dancin' ........you know them kids were raised right when they know every lyric!!! lol It was great to see people of all ages at that show.......older folks, us younger folks that grew up listening to Leppard, teens which belong to us....... loll and the little ones.........also belonging to us!!! lol all there just having a great time!!!

I, unfortunately didn’t get to stay for Bryan Adams... as I had to make the 2 hour drive back home to get ready for work early the next day , but I got a pretty good ear full as we were walking out of the venue.......and trust me........he's still got it too!!! He sounded great.

Fan Review - By Tuddues

The first word that comes to mind is...amazing, and it was.

They came on about 7:00...I think. It was the same setlist as the other nights. They played awesome and they looked great. Joe didn't talk as much as he did on the X tour, but it was still great. The crowd was really good. Not hardly any pushing or anything and they were really jamming out. It seemed almost like some of the guys were posing in the pictures too...how cool.

The guys always look so happy to be up there on that stage. They all play and sing and they smile the whole time. You don't always see that....and it was good that they were so happy. Rick sat behind his drums smiling the entire time. Sav would hardly sit still, but he didnt seem as shy as usual. Joe, Phil, and Viv would come to the very front of the stage and that was pretty sweet. Oh, and Joe commented on the weather and said that it's so f*cking hot, which made the crowd laugh. Sav also thanked us at the beginning of the encore for being an awesome crowd. It was a really awesome concert. Thank You Guys!!! YOU ROCK!!!.
