Brockton, MA - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Sari

First of it rained the WHOLE show. Nothing heavy, more like mist but EVERYTHING was wet. The roofing over the stage filled with water- at one point during Lep's set it dumped on Joe and he looked up and gave it the finger! LOL! He made a lot of comments on the weather- like it was the first time Rick's drum kit was getting wet in a long time and thanked everyone staying through the rain. There were a lot of people packed on to this field-guess there's a lot of dedicated Lep fans in Brockton!

The sound was fantastic despite the wind and rain. Rock On was definitely a highlight. (Sounds good on my voice mail too. I called myself during the show and left it as a message LOL) The guys seemed in good spirits- lots of horseplay on stage. Phil was doing a solo and Viv tried to get everyone to cheer for him and after they did he made a "aww forget him" hand motion at Phil and went in to HIS solo LOL.

The VIP section I was in was mere feet away from the door going into the glassed in room where the band and crew were having dinner and hanging out. At one point during Bryan Adams set Rick Allen came outside and was bobbing along to BA's set- that was cool.

I've never had VIP tickets before and my guess is that this is the first and last Lep concert I go to where I'm served free beer, stuffed mushrooms, salmon, lobster puffs and lamb chops. DEFinitely the most posh Lep show I've been to! The free coffee and petit fours after the show was great too- it was so cold on the field I could see my breath! A local reporter also interviewed my friend and I for her Lep review-hopefully it'll be good.

I don't know what else to say- the songs speak for themselves!.

WOW, what a performance! The weather was dreadful (60F [or 15C I think] with mist and wind) with breaks during the show to dry the stage. Bryan Adams did well to get the crowd going, and the boys finished it off with a frenzy!! Obviously the set list is the same, so I will note the best parts of the show.

1) The screen content with the videos superimposed by live footage was very creative and perfect for the theme of the tour!!!

2) The duelling solos during Rocket was different than during the X tour, which was nice to see a new version.

3) The crowd was very excited for "No Matter What", despite having little airplay in the Boston area so far.

4) "Rock On" - wow, this song alone is worth getting the new album, if it is anything like the concert version - guitars everywhere during the back end of the song!!!! If this gets released to US radio next it might just do the trick for "Yeah"!!!

P.S. Thoughts and Prayers for those affected by the sad events in London today.

I arrived at around 6:30pm. I had been hoping to get there early in the day, but wasn't able to. Got a super parking spot right near the buses for $20!! (see end of review). I was also able to move pretty close to the stage on the floor (30 ft or so away). After Bryan Adams finished, everyone inched forward toward the stage as it was set up, trying to get closer to the stage for Leppard's set. Two fights broke out, almost got a cigarette in the cheek, got rained on for more than 4 hrs., but I would do it again in a heartbeat because Lep shows are that awesome!!.

As I always do, I hung out near the buses to try to get autographs. As the buses were driving by us to leave, I jumped up and down and waved my arms wildly to get them to stop! (The others 8-10 fans weren't very energetic!!). The bus stopped, we all crossed in front, and we all thought they were going to get off. Joe came to the front of the bus!! But instead of getting off, he looks at me and the others, and shrugged his shoulders apologetically as they started to leave. I guess they didn't have time to stop? No autograph or pic this time, but at least I saw Joe face to face again!! Awesome night all around!!

Who'll Stop The Rain............ Well, Bryan Adams didn't, and Def Leppard didn't either!!!! This was one wet show, my last of four shows I went to, and it really rocked although it was a little bittersweet. Got there 5 hours early (crazy I know) but I wanted to secure a good front row spot. Luckily I got just where I wanted to be-stage right, between Sav and Vivian.:) Was it worth standing in the rain for hours? Most Definitely!!!

The opening act was an acoustic guitarist Randy Coleman, completely unknown to me, but apparently has a song on the soundtrack for the movie Crash called "Hey God". He was a John Mayer type performer- just him and an acoustic guitar along with a fellow acoustic guitarist, that's it. He played the soundtrack song and a few others. One song I kind of liked, don't know the name of it, but for the most part, he wasn't my type musically. I thought when Lep used Ricky Warwick, another man with just his guitar, as their opener on the X tour, he was fabulous. I was extrmely impressed by Warwick, but Coleman just left me with a little something to be desired.

Bryan Adams then took the stage shortly after the opener. The rain had somewhat lightened up for his set, which was very much welcomed. Bryan was very thankful to the crowd for coming out in the rain to see the show, and was quite the ham his entire set. He had to move one of his mike stands around a few times to keep from having rain drops fall on his head from the roof. This all took place right in front of me. I thought it was pretty funny, cause no matter where he stood the rain dripped on him. He finally just gave up and continued on with his show. He was great at getting the crowd into it too despite the dreary weather and went on to sing many of his hits like "Run to You" (my fave by him), "I Need Somebody", "Summer of 69", and "The Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You", to name a few, but also did some acoustic numbers such as "Heaven" and "Everything I Do (I do It For You)". A fan had asked Bryan to dedicate the song "Heaven" to one of his friends that perished in The Warwick, RI nightclub fire, so that was very touching and special. He also performed two off his latest album Room Service. The title track "Room Service" and "This Side of Paradise" I believe were his choices for the new material. The Brockton crowd seemed to really be into the sing along part of his show with the song "Cuts Like a Knife". Very cool to hear thousands of people repeating back the NA NA NA NA part of the song!!! It was pretty loud.

He did a great job getting the crowd involved, and speaking of getting the crowd involved, Bryan actually pulled a girl, Tracey, from the crowd to do a duet with him for the song "Baby When You're Gone". She did all right considering it was unexpected and she was on stage with him in front of thousands!!! He apparently does this quite a bit at his shows and what fun!! So all in all Bryan's performance was fun, very entertaining, and I fully enjoyed him this being my second time seeing him live.

On to the headliners DEF LEPPARD!!!!! - Fully soaked and fully stoked, the crowd cheered for the band letting them know in their buses a few yards away, that we were ready for them and all psyched up to get rocked. From my vantage point stage right I could see the backstage/bus area and saw Rick Allen approach the stage first. He was cheered upon and gave a gracious wave to the crowd as he made way to the stage. The rest of the band soon followed and got the same cheers as Rick. Sav waved back to the crowd looking all the rock star that he is, while leading the rest of the band to the stage. Within minutes "We Will Rock You" ended, everything went dark, and you could see 5 silhouettes taking their place on stage. The opening riff of "Action" filled the speakers and the stadium, and within seconds, the band was doing their thing as only they can do it. They went on to play all the hits from the Hysteria and Pyromania albums. They did their two covers "No Matter What" and "Rock On" as well, again letting all know about the covers album due in September.

Joe also made several comments about the rain, "Since you're all wet, guess we'll have to get wet too!!!" and "I think this is the first time that Rick's kit is actually getting wet on this tour!" He too thanked the audience for coming out in the rain, and just like Bryan Adams, kept getting dropped on. To this he replied to the sky with the middle finger several times:) and even mentioned at one point in the show "This is where the band usually towels off.....but what's the point.":) He didn't seem to mind getting wet too much though as he came over and out to the outer front part of the stage not covered by any roof, for some up close and personal moments with us fans. Both he and Sav were great for that.

Def Leppard too were very playful during this show, as Vivian was playing "catch the pic" with himself and sticking his pic to his forehead and "praying". Sav I think hit a bum note and stuck his tongue out at Viv which I caught on film.:) I was able to get some great pictures of Joe, Sav, and Phil, when they stepped out to the far end of the front and right in front of where I was standing. This was my second opportunity to have front row and there truly is nothing like it!!!

The show was fantastic, Joe let a few F-bombs fly (so much for the "Bring your kids, it's a family show":)) The set was pretty much the same as it's been the last few shows they did with Tesla, minus a couple songs. They canned Gods of War for this particular show and the full set list was as follows: (see page 1). It really was a fantastic show and no matter how much it rained this Lep fan's spirits never dampened :) Till next time...

I have so many since I have been to 4 but I'll do the most recent. July 6th Wed. Brockton MA.

Me and 3 friends got to the venue at 12:30 to make sure we got good seats since it was GA. After 5 + hours of we are supposed to stand here, no there, no here.. doors opened & we were off. Front row baby. It was raining all day and thru the night. Def Leppard didn't care. Joe kept giving the rain the finger. It was hilarious. They didn't mind getting wet with us - although Joe laughed that the real reason we all wanted them to come onto the outer platform was to see them "fall on their ass." The showed rocked - it was FABULOUS!!.

The rain didn't keep any of us "diehard fans" away.

I had arrived at the stadium around 6:15 which gave me enough time to get a good spot so first off we get check by a lady who frisked me # and then asked me if I had a camera too my reply was No it was in my pocket lol

We go up to the top of the stairs and I had to ask where you go to go out to the field cause looking around there was no way you could get on it..so the guy points over there which was half way around the place.

I took my niece she is turning 13 and wanted to go since my sister bailed..so we went onto the field and we were by the buses behind the rail so we eased our way slowly down near the front which we only made to Viv's side of the stage .. I've never been near the front at any concert in my whole life so this was a real treat for me. We could could see every1 coming out before they hit the stage if you were on Viv's side. I thought Randy Coleman was ok, wasn't into his music & I didn't know what he looked like so I didn't even look for him. Bryan comes out every1 sees him before he goes up to the stage, people are going nuts...I and evey1 around me was singing along to just about every song Bryan Adams sang ..he sang Summer Of 69, Cuts Like a Knife, Kids Wanna Rock etc He was great it was the first time I had ever seen him live even though I did listen to his music a lot..he sounds awesome :)

I thought it was hilarious how he told whoever flashed him she would have to flash the entire band and security to get backstage LMFAO I thought it was sad and great how Bryan dedicated 'Heaven' to some1 that lost their life in the Worcester night club fire it was so touching (a fan had asked for him to do that) and during one of his songs he pulled a girl named Tracey from the crowd to help him sing one of his songs I guess he does this alot..Bryan Thanked us for coming out in the piss'n rain ;)

PA Starts Playing 'We Will Rock You' I could see every1 before hitting the stage, First it was Rick Allen he waved so did Sav then the rest of the Leps came out before you knew it. Leps hit the stage every1 is going bonkers. They Opened up with 'Action' they also played Let's Get Rocked, Foolin', Women, Animal, Hysteria, No Matter What and other favorites. I so Loved the Cover of 'Rock On' it was fantatic. Can't wait for the covers album to come out..:) Joe kept giving the rain the finger it was so funny.

I can't believe how Sav was 2 feet in front of me I could of died. There was almost a fight right behind me when they were playing Sugar some girl/lady had kept on pushing me so I pushed her back I was trying to protect my niece she was back and forth pushing people thank god it was just an argument and nothing major... I will never forget this night. I will probably never be as close as I was to the boys ever again. The Leps kicked major a$$ that night they never disappoint!! Until next time and there DEF will be a next time :).
