Newport, Wales - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Rhian

After spending 5 hours in the Hornblower rock pub, me and my boyfriend caught a taxi to Newport Centre arriving there at 5pm. We were quite near the front but to out dismay we found out the doors didn't open till 7pm!!! Well, spending 2 hours in the freezing cold, desperate for a piss and to top it all off we had run out of fags... I was just thinking "I love Def Leppard... but i hope this is worth it". When the doors opened we all rushed in getting kick-ass seats! We got talking to a Japanese woman who had first seen Def Leppard 15 years ago. She said that they were amazing then and hoped they were as good now as they were then.

The first support act was an Irish guy (Ricky Warwick) with just himself and an acoustic guitar, although I didnt particually like the songs he was playing, I respected him coz he had balls to get up there by himself and do it, and he said some really funny things too.

The Darkness... well... a bit cheesey, good songs, would of got away with the outfits a bit more if it was 20 years ago! lol!

Then the moment we'd all been waiting for... on they come, and boy, was it worth the wait. They were absolutely astounding! I didn't want it to end! The highlight for me was when they performed "Rocket" not only is it my favourite song, but it was performed to absolute perfection... AMAZING! Also highlights were Pour Some Sugar On Me (of course), Two Steps Behind, Animal and Foolin'. The only thing that annoyed me was that when Joe was signaling for everyone to stand up, I did, and some old woman behind me said "Excuse me, I paid £30 to see the band, not to have you blocking my view!" I sat down and said to her "Yeah, and I paid £30 to have a good time!" and anyway I had people standing in front of me. I couldn't help but stand up and dance when "Animal" was played. The lady moved into the seats that were next to her because the people there had gone into the crowd. I had such an amazing time. I just lost myself there, I was dancing and cheering. I cant wait to have my photos developed.

I recommend going to see Def Leppard to anyone. My boyfriend really disliked them before, he was dreading it. But he was dancing before long and he loved it. He had an amazing time. He said that "Two Steps Behind" totally blew him away. At the end of the show the Japanese lady told me "They're even better now than they were 15 years ago!". I hope to god they keep their word and return to Newport, everything about the show was so amazing: the atmosphere, the people, the lights, the crowd, THE BAND, the set list was stunning!!! Phil Collen blew me away with his guitaring, totally awesome. Joe Elliott of course, blew me away, his performance was awesome. And Rick Allen just did the most amazing drum performance. Just being in the same place as such an amazing band, just being in their presence made my heart stop. If I had enough money I'd buy tickets to every UK date they're doing! I will definitely be seeing Def Leppard again. I totally loved it! I have extremely fond memories to live with and I'm absolutely gutted its over, something iv'e been excited about for so long.

Hope anyone else who went there enjoyed it as much as i did!.

Wow, this band never fails to amaze me. The guy's came out too 2,000+ screaming crowd and blasted us away with LET IT GO. They got better and better as the show went on. If anyone has the chance to go see these adrenalin rockers, then go because they put on a great show. What's more, they told us they will be back!!!!.
