Holmdel, NJ - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Jake

What a show! I actually missed most of Ricky Warwick's set, so I can't comment on that. About 5 minutes after I got there, the lights went down and "Disintegrate" hit. It was all up from there. After checking this site and seeing how the setlists were alternating every night, I knew that I wasn't going to get the "High 'n Dry" setlist, so when they opened with "Let It Go" and went right into "Make Love Like a Man", I wasn't surprised.

This setlist was known as the greatest hits list, and you can tell why. Nearly every song had the crowd singing along to every word - it was amazing. The crowd was more into the Leps than I have ever seen, and the band really seemed to draw off of that energy. Phil was great to watch, and it appears Vivian was more lively than usual as well. Sav and Rick played their rock solid rhythm section throughout the night, and Joe sounded great for having been on tour for the past few months.

The only slow parts of the night were, as traditionally, when the new songs were played, namely "Long Long Way To Go." I enjoyed this, but as someone behind me remarked, "Just play the hits!" Either way, I was very pleased to see that they add "Slang" back into the set, and they played at least one song from every album (minus On Through the Night). Anyway, the show was great and they were the best I've ever seen them.

As always, great show!!! This was my 5th Lep show this year, one more to go at the Borgata in A.C., and my 14th over all since 1987. The boys never sounded better and the venue had to be close to a sell out. During songs like Animal, Rocket, Photograph, and Sugar, the crowd at times were louder then the band!!!

Before Two Steps Behind, Joe warned the crowd that a good friend of the band at is a local boy named Jon...hmmmmm... said that there is nothing better then a Jersey crowd and they would be the loudest they've heard this tour!!! Jon may have been right!!! From the opening chords of Let it Go to the closing of Let's Get Rocked...a fantastic, energetic show from the band and the crowd...can't wait for A.C.!!!.

Now this is what I call rock!!! These guys are so amazing. I don't know how they consistently rock it out, show after show. I saw them at the Beacon on April 11th, which I must say is probably the best Def Leppard show I've ever seen. (I waited near the backstage door in the rain for over an hour. I spotted Joe and told him that he never sounded better. He responded "This man is saying all the right things. I like this man".)

As a bonus, I got Sav's autograph on the setlist my buddy scored from the Soundman. I was on Cloud 9 for a week). However, last night was pretty amazing too. Every guy in this band can sing their ass off and I sang right along with them on every tune. LLWTG sounded great and I'll be damned if I ever sit down during any song at any Def Leppard show. I only wish they played Wasted, but, unfortunately, I don't think the majority of the crowd would have appreciated it. Hey Jersey, liven up. You got no right sitting in the front row if you're not gonna rock. Do the fans a favor and go take a nap on the lawn!.

Front row...ELECTRIC!...Best show since the Beacon in NYC...the crowd was alive and hanging on every note...the boys were into the crowd and themselves...particularly funny was the cut out of Malv and Joe's obvious delight in "poking" fun at the picture...further proof that Joe is the best front man in Rock today!!!!...can't wait for Syracuse, Albany and Allentown!!...rock on, guys!.
