London, England - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By Andrew B

It was a free gig exclusively for members of the now defunct Info Active fan club. I arrived at the store a few hours early in order to get a good spot at the front. One thing I remember vividly was I got a good place in the queue quite near the front when from out of nowhere a bunch of groupies appeared and climbed over the barrier to join their friends at the front. It caused a bit of an argument and one of the girls threatened to hit me, but I didn't let it spoil the evening.

The gig started at around 6:30 PM and I was stood literally three feet away from the band as they performed an acoustic set of classic hits as well as a few newer songs from their latest album Slang. Towards the end of the gig the band played a number of requests including the Japanese bonus track "Move With Me Slowly" which they said they hadn't rehearsed or played before. Needless to say they did a fantastic job.

Right at the end when the band left the stage, the guy standing next to me asked Vivian Campbell's guitar technician for Viv's plectrum and he willingly gave it to him and allowed him to keep it. I felt kind of gutted that I didn't ask for the plectrum, but it was a great gig and I felt privileged to be at the front. The following two nights I saw the band at Wembley Arena, the Tuesday being my first true Def Leppard concert. The first time I saw the band perform live however was at the Bottom Line Club in Shepherd's Bush one year earlier.
