Wurzburg, Germany - Fan Reviews

Fan Review - By CVH

I had made my first DEF LEPPARD live experience the year before, visiting the legendary concert in Bonn, Germany the year before. This gig still remains one of the greatest concerts I had ever gone to and I still love to watch the four clips MTV shot that night. Whereas Def Leppard used those small club gigs in 1992 primarily as some kind of live rehearsal and introduction of Vivian Campbell they returned to Germany a year later to play bigger arenas and were already on their second leg of the '7-Day-Weekend-Tour' after dozens of worldwide shows.

So, in a group of six friends we travelled several hundreds miles to the southern part of Germany to see Sheffield's best . The arena in Wurzburg has a capacity of 4,756 and as far as I remember I would say, that it was pretty much sold out. UGLY KID JOE opened that night and they were on the summit of their fame. They performed an entertaining set including 'Neighbor', 'Goddamn Devil', 'Cat's in the Cradle' and of course 'Everything About You'.

Then DEF LEPPARD showed up and played a very good and tight show. Compared to the club gig the year before atmosphere and fan reaction might had been a little less enthusiastic - maybe due to the fact, that the band seemed a tiny little bit too much in some kind of a routine after having played so many shows the preceding weeks - but nevertheless they were received warmly and got the crowd moving. I recently found the concert ticket you can see on the added picture.

I noticed that I scribbled down the setlist on its backside, but I have serious doubts that the tracks are in the correct order. Anyway, below there is what I documented twenty years ago. Unfortunately I just cannot remember if Vivian and Phil repeated their long solo introducing 'Gods Of War' and 'White Lightning' like they did the year before in Bonn. I am quite certain that they played the well-known extended versions of 'Hysteria', 'Rocket' and 'Love Bites' because I remember them using the green laser lights in the jam sections.
