Def Leppard Gods of War Reign By Richmond Times-Dispatch
It was war at the Coliseum Saturday night - a glorious war that ended in dramatic victory.
The soldiers: a hard-rock band called Def Leppard, featuring a one-armed drummer and a vocalist who nearly lost his voice during a draw-out illness.
The weapons: lasers, searing guitars, depth charge drums, sweat and bulletproof guts.
The allies: more than 11,000 bloodthirsty local hard rockers.
The enemy: a four-year absence from the front for Def Leppard.
Incredible odds in a battle zone where most warriors have the life span of a flea.
From the opening salvo, it was apparent that Def Leppard was taking no prisoners.
Perched high on an incredible stage plopped down dead center on the Coliseum floor, the British band attacked on all sides.
Firing hit after hit at the frenzied crowd.
Probably the best in Richmond history.
