Saturday, 19th April 1980
Prev  |  Next
  • Location / Glasgow, Scotland
  • Venue / The Apollo/Apollo Theatre

The first show by the band in this city since January 1980 on the club tour.

The third time at this venue played twice with AC/DC in October 1979.

Another show on the On Through The Night UK and World tour with Magnum and local/young acts in support.

The venue was located in the west of the city centre and not far from Sauchiehall Street where they had played Tiffanys in January.

It was opened in September 1973 as a music venue.

The building was previously called Green's Playhouse, a cinema and ballroom that opened in September 1927.

The venue building was closed down in June 1985 and demolished in 1987 with the Cineworld Cinema now standing in its place.

The opener for this show was Colossus, a Dundee based New Wave Of British Heavy Metal band.

They featured Fran Docherty (lead vocals), Ronnie Boyd (bass), Pete Caithness (guitars), Drew Scobbie (keyboards) and Mike McIntosh (drums).

The band released at least one song 'Holding Back Your Love' on the 'New Electric Warriors' 1980 compilation album and would also support UFO (December 1979) and Iron Maiden (June 1980) in their native Dundee.
