  • Location / Manchester, England
  • Venue / Free Trade Hall

The first show by the band in this city since June 1979 on the Early Years tour.

The first time at this venue.

The venue was located in the city centre and a few streets away from the former G-Mex Centre (now Manchester Central Convention Complex), a 10,000 plus capacity concert hall/ exhibition and conference centre.

It was opened in 1856.

The venue hosted major concerts from around October 1905 until at least May 1995.

The hall was closed in 1997.

The main hall was demolished but the front facade of the building remains and is now part of a hotel.

A second show in this city having played at the University in June.

Future tour mates KISS had played their first ever UK show here on 13th May 1976 during the 'Destroyer' tour.

Show Story - 'Animal Instinct' Biography 1987

"(Frank) Stuart-Brown's major score at the time was the support slot on a four-date U.K. tour with American heavy metal shouter Sammy Hagar."

"The Leppards were paid a hundred and fifty pounds a night."
